An elderly arms dealer is in custody after police raid his home.
K-piste, automatic weapons and pistols were found for which the man did not have a permit. Others were improperly stored.
– It is about several hundred weapons in total, says prosecutor Fredrik Skoglund.
On Tuesday morning, the police carried out a routine check against an arms dealer in the Stockholm area. Suspicions of weapons offenses against the man were quickly dismissed because several military weapons were found.
– It is about a fairly large number of automatic weapons, pistols and k-piste. Simply weapons that he did not have permission to possess, says Fredrik Skoglund.
It is about military weapons, according to the prosecutor. During the inspection, weapon parts and around half a ton of ammunition were also seized, for which the man did not have a permit.
Details: Half a million in cash
The man was later arrested and detained on suspicion of particularly serious weapons offences. He is also suspected of money laundering.
– Some money was seized. The investigation must show where they come from, if it turns out that he sold weapons or if it is about something else, says Fredrik Skoglund.
According to Aftonbladet information, it is about half a million kroner in cash.
Remanded in custody
In addition to the findings, a large number of improperly stored weapons were also found. The man had weapons that can be assumed to belong to his business as a weapons dealer in his residence.
– They must not be in the home, says Fredrik Skoglund.
On Friday afternoon, the man was arrested at a district court in the Stockholm area. He is on probable grounds suspected of particularly serious weapons offences.
– My client denies any wrongdoing. Due to confidentiality reasons, I am prevented from commenting on this further at the moment, says the man’s lawyer Marcus Lodin after the arrest.
