Giant shock: Oskarshamn beat Färjestad after turning around

The conditions for tonight’s meeting in Karlstad were clear. Series leader Färjestad had not dropped a point on home ice and fellow team Oskarshamn had not won since the opening round against Luleå.

It also looked like it would be a planned win for Färjestad when Michael Lindqvist gave the home team the lead in the second period. However, Oskarshamn responded quickly and managed to equalize through Nick Olesen with two seconds (!) left to play in the second act.

“It means a lot”

The big hero then became Logan Hutsko, who steered the score to 2-1 with two minutes left. The victory means Oskarshamn’s first three-pointer of the season.

– It is mentally very important, of course. We’ve had a lousy start but we stick together in there and when you do it together you want a reward that builds morale. It means a lot, says Oskarshamn’s coach Martin Filander to SVT Sport.

A crushing victory that probably no one saw coming was a fact.

– Statistically, this should not work. It should be a smash, says SVT Sports expert Jonas Andersson.
