Giant piece of rock fell on boats in Brazil: At least 7 people died

In the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, lakeside cliffs collapsed on boats in a recreational lake. At least 7 people died as a result of the incident.

While 3 people were lost in the accident, 32 people were injured.

In some videos of the incident circulating on the Internet, screams of people in boats further away from the cliffs can be heard as the rocks begin to break off.

At least 1 boat was seen to have sunk, while the others managed to escape from the accident.

Fire department officials told reporters about the incident that took place at 11:00 local time, and stated that the rains lasting for days in the state allowed the cliffs to collapse.

The spokesperson of the fire department said that the rocks fell on three boats, and 9 of the 32 injured people were being treated at the hospital.

Search and rescue efforts of the disappeared are carried on with divers and helicopters.
