Sony announced that a new movie will be added to the series after the Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie. However, no directors or stars have been signed for the movie yet.
The Ghostbusters brand started with the movie Ghostbusters, which was released in 1984 and became world famous. Directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, the film is about four men starting a business helping the people of New York to get rid of ghosts.
The movie became a big brand with its sequel, which was released in 1989. Adding value to its value with two animation series, various toys, video games and comics apart from movie productions, the brand was quite quiet until 2016.
Ghostbusters rise from the ashes
Sony tried to revive the series with Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which featured Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace as descendants of Ramis’ character Egon Spengler. Although it earned $30 million less than the Ghostbusters movie released in 2016, the movie is known as a success because it exceeded the budget allocated for it.
Now, a new movie is added to the series. Ghostbusters 5 was heard on Sony’s panel at CinemaCon, but no other information was given. In the coming period, the director and the cast will be announced with the news to come.
