In Group B of the CAN, Ghana collected only two points in three matches against Cape Verde (2-1 defeat), Egypt (2-2) and Mozambique (2-2), results insufficient to qualify for the round of 16 of the competition. Their elimination was made official on Tuesday evening. Chris Hughton began his first experience as a coach in February 2023. The 65-year-old technician has previously coached the English clubs Newcastle, Norwich, Brighton and Nottingham Forest. The GFA also indicated that it would provide “in the coming days a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars”, who have won the CAN four times.
