Getty Images and Picsart, a popular photo editing platform, have joined forces to create a new AI image creator. This unique tool address copyright concerns that plague current AI rendering models aims.
The main difference lies in the training data. Unlike other models that may use a mix of sources, the Picsart and Getty renderer will be trained only on licensed stock images from Getty Images. This ensures that all content used to create the AI model is authorized for commercial use.
The companies tout this approach as a “responsible, commercially safe” alternative. Images created by this model will come with all commercial rights, allowing users to freely incorporate them into their projects without copyright concerns.
Similar to Adobe’s recent attempt at the Firefly AI model, the Picsart and Getty tool will be a paid service that will only be accessible to users who subscribe to Picsart. This approach clears up the controversy surrounding Adobe’s plan to potentially use user-generated content to train its AI model.
Getty appears committed to ethical practices. They assured users that photographers whose work contributed to the training data would be “paid creators included in the dataset on an annual basis.”
While a specific launch date is unknown, the Picsart and Getty Images AI image creator is expected to launch later this year. It will be accessible through Picsart’s API services, allowing integration with various creative workflows.
