0–1 at home against Växjö after 20 minutes.
Then Timrå coach Olli Jokinen was deeply disappointed with his own team’s effort.
– VI’m only here to play a match because it’s in the schedule that we’re going to do it, he thunders in TV4’s broadcast.
Växjö took the lead with 48 seconds left in the first period after Timrå missed the mark and left Hugo Gustafsson alone on the far post.
The middle pads accounted for a weak first period overall, and before the start of the second period, coach Olli Jokinen pulled out the saw.
– It’s pathetic, he begins.
– It’s very bad, we have no energy, we’re just here to play a match because it’s in the schedule that we’re going to do it. There is no bite in our game. We don’t compete, we don’t skate. One of the worst periods we have played.
“Everyone gets paid pretty well”
Timrå’s supporters club is boycotting the stands as a protest against a press release the club sent out after Saturday’s derby victory against Modo.
When asked if the lack of the usual atmosphere in the arena can be the basis for the home team’s lack of energy, Jokinen replies:
– Yes, it is quiet, but at the same time it cannot matter to you as a player where you play or what time you play. Everyone gets paid pretty well here so you can’t just come to play when you feel like it, you have to do it every day.
Växjö won the match 3–2 after penalties
