And so there is not just one kind of gull and there is no such thing as the seagull. “Here in Utrecht, for example, you already have the lesser black-backed gull, herring gull, black-headed gull and common gull. And very occasionally I also see special species such as the pontic gull, yellow-legged gull and the mayor,” says Roland-Jan. And of the latter kind you have the small mayor and big mayor. Eddy: “For me, the mayor is the holy grail among gulls.”
