Like Minecraft, LEGO Fortnite is (almost) all about crafting. Especially at higher levels and if you want to enter certain biomes, you can’t avoid some items. Including the rare explosion cores. You can read how to get them here.
Unfortunately, explosion cores are not that easy to farm. You will need some patience and luck: Blast Cores cannot be mined like other ores, but are mob drops.
Where do I get blast cores? For explosion cores, go to the Dürretal desert biome. By the way, you can also find obisidian and softwood there – two other important resources. To get explosion cores, you have to look for one of the dangerous lava caves and hunt for the “lava rollers” underground.
Tip: Before the tour, pack as many items as possible that give you heat resistance. These can be snowberry shakes or coolness talismans.
Tip #2: Mark the entrance manually. The caves do not appear as such on your map.
Tip #3: Keep your firearms holstered – the mob you’re looking for is explosive.
The lava caves are often located beneath larger rock formations. Once you have entered it, you have to look for the mobs you need.
Which mobs drop the explosion cores? The aim of your desire are the lava rollers. When they die, they can drop Blast Cores. This is on top of the fact that you first have to dig them out of the ground.
The lava rollers are hidden in the ground and you can’t get to them. Their tactic is to appear unexpectedly if you pass close enough. Their camouflage is really good, but you can recognize them by the flames flickering above them.
When fighting lava rollers, you always have to make sure to approach carefully and maybe gain some distance again. The mob has a nasty habit of blowing themselves up – and you too.
Why do I need blast cores? Blast Cores are an important resource for your crafting in the endgame. You need them, for example, to create a smelting furnace with which you can melt and process ores.
This will help you craft stronger items. You also need explosion cores for items like the Inner Fire Charm. The item increases your cold resistance, which makes it easier for you to stay in the ice biome.
