You who use the service have probably at some point needed to get a new BankID if, for example, you got a new phone or tablet.
At the beginning of 2024, an update was made, which may have meant that problems arose for some when it comes to acquiring a new BankID. The reason is that the app version, called 7.36, has enhanced protection. This means that, in order to obtain a new BankID, you need to allow location information and turn on bluetooth on both the old and new device.
The background to an extra security measure when acquiring a new BankID has to do with recent frauds. The company says the protection helps prevent possible fraud attempts by ensuring the old and new device are in the same location.

– It is a relatively new security measure to protect users. This is when you get a new mobile phone or move your mobile BankID to another device.
But having to turn on location services and bluetooth on both devices isn’t the only change made recently. Pataky also says that a change has been made that allows banks to ensure that you are you.
– An additional security measure since about two years ago is that the banks can also choose that you carry out a so-called check of the ID document when you renew your BankID or make a major transaction, she says.
So if you are in the process of getting BankID on a new device, don’t forget to activate location information and bluetooth on both devices until the service is downloaded and activated on your new device.
