PG Roxette, as the band is now called, will release a new album on Friday. A couple of singles have already arrived. The fact that Per Gessle has chosen to continue with Roxette after Marie Fredriksson’s passing has divided the fans into two camps. Is it right to continue when Marie Fredriksson is no longer with us?
— It is a relevant question, says Per Gessle in Nyhetsmorgon. Marie Fredriksson left Roxette in 2016 and it was not obvious to me to continue. But time has passed and I feel that I want to manage Roxette’s legacy for a while longer. There’s a whole world out there that likes Roxette’s music and I’ve been trying to make a record that’s a sibling to “Look Sharp!” and “Joyride”. But I haven’t tried to replace Marie with another girl – instead I’ve worked with the classic Roxette band and let the girls who were there and drove with us step forward where they’re needed.
