Germany, ZEW index improves and does better than expected

Germany GFK confirms significantly deteriorating consumer confidence

(Finance) – The German ZEW index improves slightly in August: the leading index has in fact reached -11.4 points from -12.3 points in July. The data, developed by the German research institute ZEW Institute, is also better than expected of analysts who estimated a worsening of up to -15 points.

However, they are deteriorating expectations about current conditions which lead to –79.4 points from -71.3 points, against expectations for a level of -75 points.

It gets worse instead the indicator relating to the Euro Zonewhich leads to -8.9 points from -5.5 previously and compares with i -6.2 expected.
