Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the 16 heads of region in fact decided on Friday to restrict freedoms a little more in Germany, in the face of a new expected wave of the pandemic.

People who have received only two doses of vaccine must also present a negative test to frequent restaurants and places of leisure, always closed to unvaccinated people.

No progress on the vaccine obligation

Antivaxes are too numerous in the country, where about a third of the population is not vaccinated. Worried about a risk of disruption of essential services such as public transport, the police or the supply of water and electricity if too many Germans are in quarantine or sick, the government and the Länder have also opted for a shortening of services. periods of isolation for negative contacts.

No progress on the other hand in the field of compulsory vaccination, however announced by Olaf Scholz when he came to power. The measure divides within the new majority. The Liberals in particular believe that the effectiveness of vaccines is not sufficient to justify their obligation.
