(Finance) – Decrease more than expectedGerman inflation in January 2024. According to the preliminary estimate published by Destatis, consumer prices increased by 0.2% on monthcompared to +0.1% in the previous month and against +0.2% of the consensus.
On an annual basis, the price change is indicated at +2.9%, after the +3.7% of the previous month and below the +3% of the consensus. This is the lowest value since June 2021 (+2.4%).
L’harmonized inflation recorded a change of -0.2% over the month, compared to the previous +0.2% and the expected -0.1%. On year there was an increase of 3.1%, which is lower than the previous 3.8% and the expected 3.2%.
The rate of inflation excluding food and energy, often defined core inflationsettled at +3.4%.
