Germany was supposed to give up nuclear energy completely by the end of this year. The energy crisis that followed the Russian war of aggression changed these plans.

The German government said on Monday that all three nuclear power plants still in use will be closed at the end of the year in regular operation.
If necessary, the power plants can be restarted to bring relief to the potential energy shortage in winter. Energy shortages are especially feared in southern Germany. Minister of Economy and Energy by Robert Habeck however, such a situation is “extremely unlikely”.
According to a German minister who belongs to the Greens, despite the decision published on Monday, Germany does not hesitate to close its nuclear power plants. For example, new nuclear fuel is no longer procured for power plants. Currently, the fuel is estimated to be sufficient until mid-April 2023.
In Germany, it was decided to close the nuclear power plants by the former chancellor Angela Merkel period in 2011 after the disastrous accident in Fukushima, Japan.
