The regional elections on Sunday, September 1st in Germany resulted in record scores for the far-right AfD party. The latter, lacking allies, has no prospect of coming to power. But it can still, through its greater weight, influence the course of events, force its competitors into political contortions to find majorities and in some cases call into question certain decisions.
