Germany will not object if Poland sends the Leopard tank to Ukraine, announced German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
– So far the question has not been asked, but if we were asked, we would not stand in the way, she says in an interview with the French TV channel LCI.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs continues:
– We know how important these tanks are and that is why we are discussing it now with our allies. We must make sure that people’s lives are saved and the territory of Ukraine is liberated.
The pressure is on for Germany to make a statement. Ukraine expressed disappointment after the US-led meeting on arms to Ukraine in Germany on Friday.
The Baltic countries this weekend urged Scholz to stop hesitating and send tanks now, while Poland again demands action from Germany.
