Germany February import prices fall by surprise

(Finance) – Import prices in Germany continue to moderate in February. The data, communicated onFederal Statistical Office of Germany (DESTATIS), it recorded a monthly decrease of 2.4% after -1.2% in January, doing worse than analysts’ expectations (+0.5%).

On an annual basis there was an increase of 2.8%, more contained than the +6.6% of the previous month and the +4.2% indicated by the consensus.

Net of petroleum and mineral productsprices grew 3.7% year-on-year and fell 2.3% month-on-month.

As for i export pricesthere was a decrease of 0.2% on the month, while there was an increase of 6.6% compared to the same period a year earlier.
