(Finance) – Brake the retail trade in Germany in December 2021. Sales in real terms recorded a 5.5% decline over month, after the + 0.8% recorded the previous month (revised by a preliminary + 0.6%). The figure disappoints analysts’ expectations which were for a 1.4% decrease. According to the German Federal Statistical Office (DESTATIS), moreover, the annual change is zero, from + 0.5% in November (revised by a preliminary -2.9%), resulting below expectations which indicated a + 1.1%.
According to the interim results of Destatis, throughout 2021 sales in real terms increased by 0.7% compared to 2020, while nominal turnover (not adjusted for the price) by 2.9% compared to the previous year.
