Germany: coalition agreement on a reform of European asylum law

Germany coalition agreement on a reform of European asylum law

More than two million migrants arrived in Germany last year. Most of them came from Ukraine, but the number of Afghan, Syrian or North African asylum seekers is increasing. In the first quarter, 80,000 applications were filed, an equivalent number of people who do not need to use this procedure arrived from Ukraine between January and March. German municipalities are finding it increasingly difficult to take care of these people, and the Minister of the Interior hopes to reduce the migratory flow by reforming European asylum law.
