The Spanish Alex Mumbru has been appointed as the head coach of the national team.
The German national basketball team chose a Canadian-Finnish name as a surprise by Gordon Herbert succeeded as head coach. A Spaniard has been appointed as the head coach of the national team Alex Mumbru45.
Herbert led the German national team to its most successful era. Under his leadership, Germany won the EC bronze and the world championship and finished fourth at the Paris Olympics. Herbert takes over as head coach of Bayern Munich.
During his playing career, Mumbru won EC and WC gold in the Spanish team, but in his coaching career that started in 2018, he has not previously worked outside his home country. He coached Bilbao from 2018 to 2022 and then Valencia until his dismissal last spring.
