Germans catch many more ATM burglars, and they mainly come from Utrecht and Amsterdam

Of the 201 suspects, 160 people came from the Netherlands in 2023, according to figures from the Bundeskriminalambt (BKA), the federal criminal investigation department. Last year, the BKA counted 461 ATM bombings and attempted ATM bombings, which is 7.1 percent less than in 2022. It is striking that the number of ATM bombings in the border area with the Netherlands is much higher than in the rest of Germany.
