German soccer legend and world champion Andreas Brehme is dead, reports German Bild and Die Welt. Brehme decided, among other things, the World Cup final against Argentina in 1990.
According to German media suffered Andreas Brehme of a cardiac arrest on the night of Tuesday and was rushed to hospital but his life could not be saved.
“Bayern Munich is shocked by the sudden passing of Andreas Brehme. Andreas Brehme will always be in our hearts – as a world champion and even more as a very special person. He will always be part of the FC Bayern family. Rest in peace, dear Andi,” writes his former club Bayern Munich on social media.

Brehme made 86 international appearances for West Germany and Germany between the years 1984–1994. In total, he scored eight goals in the national team shirt.
Brehme’s greatest career moment came when he decided the 1990 World Cup final on penalties with the only goal of the game as then West Germany defeated Diego Maradona’s Argentina with 1–0. He also played in the European Championship in Sweden in 1992 when Germany lost the final against Denmark.

During his career, he became both German champion with Kaiserslautern and then Bayern Munich as well as Italian champion with Inter. In 1991 he also won the UEFA Cup with Inter.
Andreas Brehme was 63 years old. Rest in peace!
