German streamer has fun renovating on Twitch until she sees what clips her viewers are making

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The German streamer Melanie “Sana” (27) usually shows story games on Twitch, but also League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. In January 2022, however, she had a special project: she redesigned her streaming room and had a lot of fun doing it, too. However, some viewers took advantage of the streams for something else entirely.

What were those streams? Sana shared with viewers how she spruced up her streaming room. For example, she turned a simple Ikea dresser into an individual piece (via Twitter).

She had a lot of fun with these DIY streams and was already planning the next projects. In view of the clips that her viewers produced, she has now lost her interest.

Clips are short recordings cut from streams on Twitch. These videos are often taken out of context and can take on a strange life of their own online:

Which clips were the problem? As Sana announced on Twitter, there have never been so many clips of her butt as in the home improvement streams. She couldn’t understand that at all, after all she wore normal clothes.

Well, according to the streamer, she no longer wants to do such a project again. This is probably particularly frustrating because she was enjoying the streams so much and already had the next ideas (via Twitter).

Clips could end up in relevant forums

Why are you doing this? In the comments on Twitter there is a lack of understanding as to who makes such clips and for what reasons. It’s not funny and those responsible are probably people who have nothing better to do and just never come out the door.

However, a Twitter user has an assumption: such recordings would end up in adult communities on reddit and Co. (via Twitter).

Can anything be done about it? Judging by the comments on Twitter, many felt it would be a shame if Sana let the actions of a few take the fun out of her home improvement projects.

Twitch colleagues recommend limiting the clip function. In the settings, streamers can choose how long followers have to be there in order to be able to create a clip, or turn off the function altogether. The function can also be limited to paying subscribers.

But that’s exactly what Sana doesn’t really want: If clipping is tied to subs, members of the community who wouldn’t have done anything would be punished.

Unfortunately, many of those responsible have been followers for a long time. So in this case, just denying clips to newer followers (via Twitter) wouldn’t have done any good.

The only option left is to restrict the clipping function for certain streams where inappropriate clips are expected in advance.

The reddit communities we’re talking about actually exist. One of the biggest streamers in Germany has already made such a discovery: users shared photos of her and spread sexual fantasies about it. But some people think that they just have to stand above it.
