The MMORPG Tibia was created in Regensburg in 1995, but experienced its best business year 25 years later. Record numbers have been written since the outbreak of the pandemic – the streak of success continued in 2022, so that employees can look forward to a big bonus.
What is special about the MMORPG?
How is business? Business has been excellent since 2020. The lockdown certainly played a part. But in 2022, when measures generally eased, revenues remained strong.

What makes Tibia so much money? Tibia is a freemium game. One can play it for free or get a premium account which brings benefits. There is also the premium currency “Tibia Coins.”
It is even possible in Tibia to sell your character through a bazaar. CipSoft then takes a share of the transaction amount.
Company pays 25% of profits to employees
How do employees benefit from this?? This is another special feature of the company from Regensburg. As managing director Stephan Vogel explains, the company distributes a quarter of the company’s profits to its employees every year in the form of a bonus.
This year, the bonuses correspond to more than 9 additional monthly salaries.
Not only the employees will be happy, but also the city treasury of Regensburg.
