Germany is under heavy pressure from countries waiting for the green light to send the German-made Leopard Wagons to Ukraine. However, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has so far only given non-answers.
According to the spokesperson, Rheinmetall – Germany’s largest arms manufacturer – may deliver 29 Leopard 2A4 tanks in April-May and another 22 towards the end of 2023, possibly early 2024. In addition, the producer may deliver 88 of the older Leopard 1 model, unclear exactly when.
A number of European countries have Leopard wagons in their possession, but sending them to Ukraine requires the approval of the German government. However, Poland has said it is ready to send the Leopard 2 tank model even without a German okay.
