German fans are eagerly awaiting a new MMORPG

Lionheart Studio made a name for themselves almost overnight with the release of the MMORPG Odin: Valhalla Rising. The game went through the roof and the creators have made millions since then, even though the MMORPG hasn’t even been released in the West yet. Publisher Kakao Games now wants to change this and is definitely aiming for a release this year.

What kind of game is this? Odin: Valhalla Rising is an MMORPG, available for PC or mobile, dedicated to Norse mythology.

In detail, the focus is on Valhalla – the place where the father of the gods Odin gathers the bravest warriors for another battle, who have proven themselves worthy in earthly life. According to the publisher Kakao Games, it should be released in 2023 (via Facebook.com).

How successful is Odin: Valhalla Rising? If you first look at the release in 2021 in Asia, Lionheart Studio landed a hit back then. Analysts are assuming sales of around 11 million euros for the MMORPG in the first two days after the release alone.

According to game.mk.co.kr (via game.mk.co.kr), it is therefore not surprising that Odin: Valhalla Rising was number 1 in the Google PlayStore after a short time, displacing the Lineage M, the leader up to that point .

According to Pulse (via pulsenews.co.kr), Lionheart Studio was even valued at around 2.8 billion euros due to its continued success in 2022.

In the meantime, however, the game has stagnated in the East. According to a ranking of the most popular titles in the region, regularly maintained by GameMeca (via gamemeca.com), the MMORPG is now in the middle with 25th place.

Project Q aims to build on the success of Odin: Valhalla Rising

What is Project Q? Project Q was recently announced (via Facebook.com). It should be the next MMORPG from the developers and not appear before 2025. The MMORPG will be a spin-off of the current Odin: Valhalla Rising.

Now some players are rightly asking themselves why another MMORPG with the same background is being announced after the release of Odin: Valhalla Rising, especially since the existing MMORPG has not yet been released in the West.

The developers explain: “[…] While Odin: Valhalla Rising and Project Q share the same universe, there are still some differences.” However, the developer did not elicit details about the gameplay or even the combat system. Lionheart Studio links to future announcements.

So it remains to be seen whether it will get a classic tab targeting system or play like Black Desert Online with an action and combo system.

How is it different from Odin: Valhalla Rising? In addition, the developer states that, in contrast to the current Viking MMORPG, the lore and story of Project Q will take a much darker path. Thus, unlike in Odin: Valhalla Rising, humans and other mortals are at strife among themselves as are the gods themselves.

There should also be visual differences. In contrast to Odin: Valhalla Rising, the camera perspective is completely different. In addition, the developer has taken the feedback from the players to heart and is therefore planning more selection options with regard to male characters, for example.

After all, Project Q and the current MMORPG should position themselves differently from each other. According to Lionheart Studio, this could even encourage Odin: Valhalla Rising fans to switch games.
