The Christian Democratic Party CDU will be the largest in the German election, according to the first polling surveys.
Right -wing nationalist AfD doubles its support compared to the last election to 19.5 percent, while Olaf Scholz’s party Social Democrats rage from 25 to 16 percent.
With 29 percent of the vote, the Christian Democratic CDU/CSU looks to be the largest party in the German election, according to the first polling surveys.
“There is no cheer here at the Christian Democrats when the first forecasts come out,” says TV4 News Foreign correspondent Jona Källgren, who is in place at CDU’s election vigil.
– 29 percent lies the party, which is below the magic limit of 30 that had been seen as a success. This is not a result that the party had hoped for.
Thus, Friedrich Merz looks to be the next Chancellor, and shortly after the message from the polling surveys, he proclaimed himself as a winner in the election.

Jona Källgren: No cheer at CDU – Die Linke’s big winner
AfD second largest
Right -nationalist AfD seems to be the second largest with about 20 percent of the vote, which is also under the hopes.
– The big winner is the Left Party Die Linke, which has risen from around three percent in opinion polls a week ago, to just over eight percent, says Jona Källgren.
– A huge election spurt from that party.
The environmental party Die Grünen receives 13.5 percent of the vote.
Scholz’s party is raging
Liberal FDP and left -wing Populist Prorean BSW appear to fall below the five percent barrier.
– If this stays, the liberal FDP and the left -wing populist BSW will not enter the Bundestag and it makes it easier for CDU to shape a coalition, despite the half -bad result.
According to the polling survey, Olaf Scholz’s party of the Social Democrats races from 25 to 16 percent. If the result stands, it is the party’s worst election result in a national parliamentary election since the Second World War.
Voter turnout can be the highest in over 30 years, reports the public service channel ARD.
