As the Hollywood Reporter revealed, Butler’s 300 preparation included six hours of exercise per day, which consisted of two hours of CrossFit, two hours of bodybuilding and two hours of fight choreography. The star explained:

I was in the best shape of my life. In a way I ruined my body, but I looked great doing it.

Gerard Butler later had serious doubts during the shoot, but the training paid off. 300 became a box office success (via The Numbers), although the film received only average reviews. Pectoral and deltoid lovers will get their money’s worth“, wrote A.O. Scott of The New York Times. Who would disagree? Probably not Gerard Butler.
