From Thursday you can see action star Gerard Butler in his most disgusting role again in the cinema. Then the sequel to the 2018 film starts with Criminal Squad 2, in which the actor appeared for the first time tough, repulsive Detective Nick O’Brien aka Big Nick played.
In a recent conversation with Criminal Squad 2 co-star O’Shea Jackson Jr., Butler spoke again about filming Zack Snyder’s battle epic 300 with him in the lead role of King Leonidas. His details from the production sound like a painful trip to hell.
300 spins every day have resulted in injuries and hospitalizations
In an interview with People with Butler and Jackson Jr., the 300 star recalled how brutally the filming of Snyder’s comic book adaptation got out of hand:
I remember someone being taken to the hospital every day. People argued, people turned around, There’s a guy down there who got a spear shot in the eye. Another time you turn around and there’s a guy who just fell and broke his ankle. I mean, it was crazy.

The over-stylized battles in the modern blockbuster classic look pretty painful, and not just in front of the camera. Apparently there was pure chaos behind the scenes during the 300 filming.
Is there another 300 sequel coming?
After the sequel 300: Rise of an Empire from 2014, things have recently become quiet about the franchise. Although the sequel was again financially successful, there was never official plans for another part. In 2016, Zack Snyder talked about how 300 sequels were theoretically possible and the story could possibly be removed from ancient Greece and transferred to a new conflict. Since then, there have been no new updates on the status of a third 300 film.
Criminal Squad 2 with Gerard Butler will be in German cinemas from January 16, 2025.
