Gerard Butler established himself as an action star with Olympus Has Fallen. As a genre great, he should now get his own Die Hard: In Empire he preserves the eponymous Empire State Building in front of a terrorist. There are two very promising names behind the camera. New action hit: The story of Gerard Butler’s Die Hard version already sounds absolutely fantastic

Deadline has already learned the plot of the film. It will put a big smile on the faces of genre fans: Butler is supposed to play the former Navy Seal Rhett, who now works as a New York firefighter. As a frightened ex-mercenary wants to punish the USA with an attack, Rhett has to save the Empire State Building. Of all people, his girlfriend Dani, with whom he has recently had a very broken relationship, works with him as a New York police officer.

The synopsis with all its wonderful genre clichés sounds like pure entertainment. And if that’s not enough, you can use this prominent names behind the camera The film is to be directed by Christian Gudegast, who was already responsible for Butler’s action highlight Criminal Squad. S. Craig Zahler, the creator of the extremely bloody horror western Bone Tomahawk, is taking over the script.

When will Empire with Gerard Butler be released in Germany?

Butler is currently still in negotiations for the role, but will most likely accept it. Due to the early stage of production we expect not before 2026 with a start.
