We know and love Gerard Butler as a likeable, tough hero whose films really get down to business. This is also the case in his latest film Kandahar, which Butler also produced. Kandahar: Action film meets espionage thriller

The script for the film was written by Mitchell LaFortune was inspired by his own life. The former military officer was himself stationed in Afghanistan with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)., when whistleblower Edward Snowden exposed the workings of American secret services. The plot is reminiscent of a spy thriller, what Kandahar more depth and tension and thus sets him apart from the classic representatives of his genre.

The chases through the desert in Kandahar are particularly spectacular.
