The dynamic between Geralt of Rivia and Ciri, his child of surprise, is probably the most important driving force of the Netflix series The Witcher. Therefore, many fans are not only wondering whether Liam Hemsworth can convince as a future Henry Cavill replacement, but also whether the chemistry between the main characters will still be the same after the change in actors. However, we won’t find out in season 4.
Warning, spoilers:
Ciri and Geralt will not meet in The Witcher Season 4
At the end of the third season of The Witcher, Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) parted ways and it became clear that the Witcher family would not be together again for a long time. And in fact, actress Freya Allan confirmed in an interview with Screenrant that she and Liam Hemsworth not a single scene together in season 4 have:
There is no relationship this season. Ciri is on her own path and he is on his own path, so it’s like, “Forget Geralt.” That’s what Ciri has in mind. ‘Let’s try to put this aside. That never happened. Now I’m Falka; I’m not Ciri.’
The complete split in the stories of Geralt and Ciri will certainly come as a surprise to viewers of the Netflix series – but not to fans of the original book. The 4th season of The Witcher is based on the 3rd volume of the Witcher novel series by Andrzej Sapkowski, in which the three main characters do not meet at all. And that won’t change until the 5th and final book.
In the original and season 4, Geralt begins the search for his foster daughter and meets several new allies on his journey across the continent. Meanwhile, Ciri joins the rat gang and begins a new life as a thief under the name Falka, while Yennefer also has her hands full as a member of the sorceresses’ lodge. Will the witcher family ever get back together? We don’t find out until season 5.
For Liam Hemsworth, the strict separation from other main characters is both a blessing and a curse. So he has to prove himself almost single-handedly (at least Dandelion is at his side) as the new Geralt of Rivia. However, his interactions with Ciri and Yennefer in Season 4 will not be subject to constant comparisons to Henry Cavill’s interpretation of the role.
