Georgia’s bang – beat Portugal 2-0

Georgia needed to win to advance to the round of 16 in Germany.

Then the national team took the opportunity to get off to a flying start in Gelsenkirchen.

After 1.34 minutes, Chvitja Kvaratschelia scored one of the fastest goals in European Championship history and ensured that Georgia got hold of Portugal.

Georges Mikautadze scored his third goal of the tournament when he distinctively slotted home a penalty to make it 2–0 in the 57th minute.

A goal that secured victory for Georgia, 74th in the international football association Fifa’s world rankings, and the European Championship finals in Germany has become Georgian football history.

Ronaldo was replaced

Portugal’s eternal star Cristiano Ronaldo had a tough game tonight.

– He has stood still for 60 minutes and whined at the referee, said TV4 expert Erik Edman, writes The soccer channel.

Just after half-time, Ronaldo, who was cautioned in the first half, had a great chance at a corner. But a Georian player intervened and covered the veteran’s finish. Ten minutes into the second act, Georgia extended their lead. Georges Mikautadze scored a penalty kick.

Ronaldo was replaced after 65 minutes of play.

Turkey further

The Czech Republic, just like Georgia, needed three points to play on in Germany.

But unlike Georgia, the Czechs had a tough start in Hamburg.

Anonin Barak picked up two yellow cards and was sent off. Early in the second came the next cold shower: Hakan Calhanoglu neatly scored the lead goal for Turkey.

Tomas Soucek then equalized in the 66th minute, but Turkey’s Cenk Tosun decided in added time.

Thus, the Czech Republic’s EC adventure is over, while Portugal, Turkey and Georgia play on.
