When is the Genshin Impact update 5.3 release date?
Genshin Impact update 5.3 release date set as of January 1, 2025. This will be the first phase of the update with the first banner integrated during the latter and centered on the archon pyro, Mavuika as well as the witch Citlali. The second banner will be available nearby from January 15, 2025.
What are the banners for Genshin Impact update 5.3?
Genshin Impact update 5.3 has a small feature regarding its banners since two new 5-star characters will be available at the same time. Players will therefore be able to choose between Mavuika and Citlali before having a second part of banners with former 5-star characters on offer.
Mavuika is therefore the pyro archon of the Natlan region and the first new 5-star character in version 5.3 of Genshin Impact. Expected for several months by players, this is a melee fighter who can ride her motorcycle to inflict heavy damage on enemies around her. Her particularity is to have very high attack multipliers which give her the highest attack among all the characters in the game. However, she needs other Natlan characters capable of consuming Nightsoul essences to be at her maximum capabilities.
Citlali, the second new 5-star character in update 5.3, is of the Cryo element. While she can provide a shield for your team, this is not her primary function. Citlali is above all capable of reducing opponents’ Pyro and Hydro defenses and promoting the melt reaction. It will therefore be necessary to play it with Pyro characters preferably or Hydro.
The traveler will also finally be able to take advantage of the pyro element and gain new abilities, notably against the new boss of the Natlan region.
A new 4-star character has also been revealed: Lan Yan, an anemo character, who is a dancer from the Liyue region and who will make her first appearance during the 2025 Lantern Festival.
The second part of update 5.3 will bring a banner composed of Clorinde and Arlecchino. It will be online until update 5.4 is released.
It has also been confirmed that the banner regarding Liyue’s nostalgia greetings will also return with several Liyue characters like Shenhe, Tartaglia and Qiqi as well as their weapons.
What’s new for Genshin Impact update 5.3?
Version 5.3 of Genshin Impact brings the continuation and end of the story quests in the Natlan region. You will therefore find the characters of the region as well as Capitano, member of the Fatui, battling a new enemy with a draconic appearance. Players will also take the opportunity to finally discover the pyro version of the traveler.
In addition to the new archon quest, update 5.3 of Genshin Impact will offer players the opportunity to discover the new characters a little more through quests centered around them. Mavuika will notably have a dedicated story quest to discover and test it. Completing this story quest will also grant upgrade materials to level Mavuika up to level 60.
Players will also be able to find a new edition of the Liyue Lantern Festival. This event, which echoes the Chinese New Year, will notably allow you to obtain a 4-star character from the Liyue region to be selected for free from Lan Yan, Xingiu, Xiangling, Beidou, Chongyun, Gaming, Ningguang, Xinyan, Yanfei, YaoYao and Yunjin.
A new boss will also be available: the eroded lord of primordial firea gigantic dragon equipped with two swords which will allow you to obtain improvement elements for certain characters like Mavuika.
The Hoyoverse team also teased several new features to come in the future of Genshin Impact with one last tribe of Natlan to meet, seven new characters who will be revealed within the next six months, a new new region called “Nod- Krai” and a new game mode allowing you to create your own mini-games coming soon.
What are the upcoming events during Genshin Impact update 5.3?
Version 5.3 of Genshin Impact will be especially marked by the return of the Lantern Festival as the main event of the update. This event will also provide a skin for Xiangling and offer a paid skin for Hu-Tao.

Players will also obtain various rewards including 10 wishes for the temporary banner, 1600 prime gems (equivalent to 10 wishes) and a new free slider to collect from the mailbox.
Among the new festival events, players will find a sort of “candy crush” mini-game that can be played against other players to get the best score. A combat challenge will also be offered where you will have to defeat the most enemies within a given time.
Players will also find Mika, Charlotte and other characters who will need players’ help to create and send personalized envelopes and greeting cards in order to obtain rewards.
A new rhythm mini-game will also be offered permanently in order to replay the music of Genshin Impact with musical instruments. Players will be able to add different difficulties to obtain more points. Players will also be able to create their own music and post it online for others.
