Genoa gutter construction sites ready to go protocol signed between

(Finance) – It was The Memorandum of Understanding of the Genoa Gronda was signed today in the Prefecture, one of the most impressive engineering works ever built in Europe. The agreement was signed by Matthew SalviniMinister of Infrastructure and Transport, John TotiPresident of the Liguria Region, Marco BucciMayor of the Metropolitan City of Genoa, Paul Emilio SignoriniPresident of the Port System Authority of the Western Ligurian Sea e Roberto TomasiChief Executive Officer of Autostrade per l’Italia SpA

With the signing of the Protocol, the high strategic value is recognized and the urgency with respect to the execution times of the work is confirmed, as an action of fundamental interest for territorial and national development from an economic-social point of view. Engine of the development of the country-system and national mobility, theinfrastructure will strengthen territorial logistics in response to the growing traffic flows on the Ligurian networkin conjunction with the implementation of the impressive asset modernization plan put in place by Autostrade per l’Italia.

This infrastructure is destined to revolutionize the regional and national road network and will see more than 40,000 vehicles transit every day, of which more than 8,000 heavy vehicles: the main element of Aspi’s Economic and Financial Plan, a total investment estimated at over 4 billion euros for the work is expected, an amount entirely financed by the concessionaire company.

An unrivaled shipbuilding effort in the current international engineering and infrastructural panorama, the work will involve 7,000 workers a year for the construction of 72 km of motorway roads, including 25 tunnels (for a total length of 50 km), 37 bridges and viaducts (of which 16 new and 21 existing). A project designed to act as a link between all the crucial points of the Ligurian transport system, from the airport to the port up to the railways. The infrastructure involves all the ordinary roads that run from west to east of the urban area.

The project to adapt the A7-A10-A12 system involves the construction of a new section with two lanes in each direction, with the doubling of the existing A10 in the section crossing the Municipality of Genoa from Val Polcevera to the town of Vesima. In addition to easing the city traffic, obtained by separating the metropolitan and long-distance traffic flows, the connection with the crucial places for the economy of the North-West will be improved.

On the side of sustainabilitythe project is characterized by a particular attention to the environment, as well as bringing benefits in terms of air quality: fine particles will suffer a reduction of up to 54%, like CO2 which, thanks to the reforestation interventions for 31 hectares of new woods, will drop by 655 tons compared to today. Almost 100% of the materials excavated from the tunnels will not travel by road, but through a special slurry pipeline and will be reused for the construction of the airport platform, which will also see the installation of photovoltaic systems for 25 hectares. The new stretch will be self-sufficient from an energy point of view: photovoltaics will in fact cover 100% of the infrastructure needs, making the remaining 50% of the energy produced available to the local area.

For the construction of the Genoa gutter, Autostrade per l’Italia deploys the entire structure of the Group’s subsidiariesas integrated operator of mobility: Tecne (3rd engineering company at national level with over 1000 employees), Amplia (1st construction company at national level for direct activities), Movyon (3rd company at European level in the Intelligent Transport System field) , Elgea (production of energy from photovoltaics on the grid) and Free to X (sustainable mobility and improvement of user services).

“Autostrade per l’Italia is a source of great pride to be the protagonist of the biggest engineering challenge in Europe,” he says Roberto Tomasi, Chief Executive Officer of the Aspi Group: “It is a strategic work for which cutting-edge construction techniques and engineering solutions will be used, in a unique national and international context. The Gronda is an infrastructure that will be the driving force for the development of the national system and mobility national, strengthening territorial logistics with positive effects for the Italian economy. Enabler of sustainable mobility, which attracts wealth and favors the economy of the Genoese area and of all Liguria, the work will benefit the city of Genoa thanks to the relocation of the city traffic, fueling attractiveness and sustainability. Furthermore, it will give new impetus to the strategic nature of the Port and to commercial exchanges, facilitating the flows of heavy vehicles and traffic in general. A dutiful thanks goes to the Institutions and to all those who have never stopped believing in this great challenge: we have always believed in it and we are ready to face it with our skills and group”.
