Members of Gelderland were furious last year about the purchase of farmers in the Veluwe by Rijkswaterstaat. With this, the government agency also purchased the rights to nitrogen emissions, which it can use for laying asphalt. The Gelderland council was called upon not to cooperate in this and therefore not to withdraw the permits of these farmers. This is necessary before the nitrogen rights can be used for other things.
