It was claimed by Jeff Grubb in February 2023 that The Coalition studio directed all its resources to the new game of the Gears of War series after the canceled projects. These claims were further strengthened when Xbox posted a job posting for the position of Senior Gameplay Designer – Gears of War – The Coalition.
After Microsoft acquired the Gears of War brand in 2014, the last two main games in the series, Gears of War 4 and Gears 5, were developed by The Coalition and attracted great attention from fans of the series.
