Gearbox CEO goes to extreme lengths to talk himself into beautifying the Borderlands movie

The CEO of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford (53), is a very different type of guy. He is currently struggling with the poor reviews of the new Borderlands film, which is a box office and critical flop. But Pitchford doesn’t seem to want to accept that. Half of the people like the film. Even the Beatles only had a 25% hit rate.

This is the criticism of the new Borderlands movie:

  • On Metacritic, the film has a score of 27 out of 100%. The user reviews are just as weak at 2.7.
  • YouTuber Charles White has formulated the general criticism of the Borderlands film: Apparently, the entire budget was spent on a star-studded cast that neither fits the film nor wants to be in it. Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis and Cate Blanchett in particular were criticized as being miscast. Only Jack Black as Claptrap at least makes an effort.
  • The film is disappointing in every respect – it has no connection to the Borderlands game series, nor is it funny or exciting. It doesn’t even look particularly good.

CEO feels incredibly flattered by the criticism

Who sees it differently? Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford is not taking this lying down. He is trying to turn the whole thing into something positive:

“So what you’re saying to me is: you like what me and my friends have done on the Borderlands games even more than you like what the biggest and best cast and crew on the planet have done: I’m super flattered. We’re working extra hard on what’s coming.”

He uses the word “four” to indicate that they are working on Borderlands 4.

    So from:

  • The film is really bad
  • Will he:

  • The Borderlands games are fantastic, not even the equally amazing Borderlands movie can keep up
  • Things get really absurd when he speaks out in favour of the film and explains:

  • Half of the people may
  • The other half does not like him
  • That’s okay, all opinions are fine. The Beatles had more number 1 hits than any other music group in history, but their hit rate was only 25%.

Pitchford appears to openly threaten journalists

This is also being discussed: Pitchford also seems to be arguing with some journalists again, as he likes to do. He specifically attacks Forbes author Paul Tassi, who shares his confused comments.

Pitchford believes Tassi is “super-obsessed” with him and what his company does. Tassi makes a living by “talking shit” and acting as if he knows Pitchford personally. Pitchford doesn’t like that at all.

But he doesn’t feel like ruining Tassi right now, so he’ll let it go.

Ah yes tagging me and insulting me with an entire paragraph broadcast to 690K people is extremely normal behavior and does not at all reinforce anything I said! Thank you for unblocking me sir!! pic.twitter.com/ZdVGZPZs5Z

The controversial CEO of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, has already been involved in some absurd controversies, for example over USB sticks that were left lying around.
