The company said in a statement on Monday that one of the turbines pumping gas through the pipeline is being stopped due to “the technical condition of the engine”.
Germany, which is heavily dependent on Russian gas, has accused Moscow of using the energy supply as a “weapon”, and a spokesman for the German finance ministry says there is no technical reason to cut supplies.
Monday’s announcement comes as Russia last week resumed supplying Russian gas to Europe through Germany after a ten-day stoppage due to maintenance work, but then only at 40 percent capacity.
