The Israeli oppression, which started on October 7, has been continuing unabated for months. Since this date, which is considered the beginning of a new era in the Middle East, the international community has failed to prevent Israeli oppression. Trying to determine a new scope for its operations at this point, the Tel Aviv administration created its new plan for Gaza yesterday. The Israeli War Cabinet made important decisions regarding Gaza with the vote held yesterday. The most striking of these decisions is that Israeli forces are given ‘indefinite’ freedom in their activities in the Gaza Strip…
IMPORTANT STEP FOR HOSTAGE EXCHANGE
As part of the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Egypt and Qatar, for a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement similar to November 2023, the Israeli War Cabinet decided to send a team to Paris, the capital of France.
According to The Times of Israel, although this decision has not yet been officially confirmed, a delegation led by David Barnea, head of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad, is planned to be sent to Paris.
This decision by Israel was taken following the visit of White House Middle East and North Africa Coordinator Brett McGurk to Israel. White House National Security Spokesperson John Kirby said McGurk said the talks in Israel were “constructive” and that Washington was “committed to doing everything to secure a hostage exchange agreement in exchange for an extended pause” in the conflict.
‘LOCAL AUTHORITY’ PROPOSAL FOR GAZA
The document presented by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to the security cabinet proposes the appointment of ‘local officials’ for the post-war administration of Gaza. This document envisages the appointment of local administrators who are not affiliated with Hamas and who do not associate civilian matters with structures that support terrorism.
Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas is not directly mentioned, but the document does not appear to make any attempt to suggest his or the Palestinian Authority’s involvement in the post-war process.
‘INDEFINITE FREEDOM’ FOR ISRAEL IN GAZA
In the statement made by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, it was stated that the principles in the presented document were ‘publicly accepted’ principles and that this document ‘will form the basis of future discussions regarding the post-war Gaza administration’.
According to the plan presented by Netanyahu to the cabinet, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will aim to eliminate the military capacity and government infrastructure of ‘Hamas and Islamic Jihad’, which were determined as the main targets of the war in the first stage, to release the hostages and to prevent any long-term attacks from the Gaza Strip. will continue its attacks on the Gaza Strip until the security threat is eliminated.
The document states that ‘the IDF will have indefinite freedom regarding its activities in the Gaza Strip to prevent the re-emergence of terrorist acts’ and states that Israel plans to create a security buffer zone on the Palestinian side of the Gaza Strip.
Additionally, the document includes plans for the Egyptian border. In this context, it is stated that cooperation will be made with Egypt and the USA ‘as much as possible’ in order to prevent smuggling at the border. Another prediction of the plan is that Gaza will be ‘completely demilitarized’ and Israel will be responsible for achieving this goal.
