The day after Israel’s military announced that it had completed its offensive in the area of Shujaiyeh in Gaza City, work is underway to search through the racial masses that were left behind.

According to the authorities in the strip of land controlled by Islamist Hamas, 60 bodies have been found in the area so far.

120,000 people have been left homeless, according to the authorities.

– Shujaiyeh is in ruins. We are devastated, Sabrin Abu Asr told the AFP news agency after returning to witness the destruction.

As with most other buildings in the area, only a skeleton of her home remains, after two weeks of fighting between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian militants.

Israel’s military stated on Wednesday that it had completed the operation in Shujaiyeh, where it claims to have destroyed eight tunnels and killed a number of “terrorists”. The fighting now continues in the rest of Gaza City, where all residents have been asked to evacuate through Israeli flyers.
