Israel has bombed the Gaza Strip shortly after rockets were fired from there into Israeli territory.

According to the Israeli military, the fighter jets aimed at a military facility belonging to Islamist Hamas.

“The military facility consists of an underground complex containing raw materials used in the manufacture of rockets,” the Israeli military said.

During the night, rockets were fired at Israel on two occasions and both times two rockets were fired. According to Israel, one rocket was fired, while the other three struck in an uninhabited area. Rocket alarms sounded in southern Israel, including in the city of Ashkelon.

On Friday, US President Joe Biden visited the occupied West Bank, where he met with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. On Thursday, Biden met with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid. Among other things, the United States will provide more support to Palestinian refugee and health care organizations, after that aid was thwarted under former President Donald Trump.
