Garou and Celine Dion

Invited by Thomas Sotto on the show 8 p.m. on Sunday on June 17, 2018, Garou remembered his meeting with Celine Dion. The singer said he met the famous singer many years ago when he played Quasimodo in the musical Notre Dame of Paris. “The first meeting with Céline was in backstage at Notre Dame of Paris. In the wings. She didn’t know me and it’s true that when there was the break, everyone was panicked because there was Celine Dion” he said. While a real “crush” s’ was created behind the scenes, Garou preferred to step aside and wait.

“Everyone wanted a piece of her, to meet her. Me, on the contrary, I said to myself ‘Poor thing, it must not be funny to be known like that’. I found it almost deplorable” remembered the singer. “And when she came to meet us in backstage, I made myself very quiet. I went to a corner and it was she who came to see me. And finally we chatted and we really laughed together. So it was a great first meeting”, said Garou. Later, in 2000, the two artists performed together as a duet, the legendary song Downwind.
