The Phave Gard is only part of the aqueduct built by the Romans in the 1st century BC. This aqueduct stretched for 50 kilometers and is one of the most important vestiges of technical prowess that the Romans knew how to demonstrate. A legend says that following a failed bet, the devil threw a hare against the wall. This would explain the presence of an animal form on one of the bas-reliefs of the bridge. In reality, the latter is a tribute to the Roman god Priapus.
