Raking away the leaves is therefore not only hard work, but also completely unnecessary, according to gardener Lars-Johan Svanström from Varberg.
– I think it feels like we have lost a bit of our footing in what the leaves actually do in the garden, says Lars-Johan.
The leaves are packed full of nutrients needed in the garden.
– Under the flowerbed, under the lawn, we have topsoil. And all of this is created by the fact that microorganisms that live under the topsoil have then broken down leaves and branches and other remnants from nature to create this growing layer, Lars-Johan continues.
