To get the city clean again, the garbage men and women first clear up residual waste and industrial waste. That starts with the removal of the waste next to the underground containers. Only when that is gone can the containers be removed to empty them. Because the containers are very full, the garbage trucks have to drive up and down more often. A special vehicle is also needed to clean up the waste next to the containers. That, in combination with the amount of litter on the street, means that it takes more than a week to clean everything up, according to the municipality.
