Carlito Brigante (Al Pacino) was supposed to spend 30 years in prison. However, his friend and lawyer Dave Kleinfeld (Sean Penn) ensures that he is released again after only five years. The former gangster wants to do it honestly this timeto fulfill his dream of living in the Bahamas.
But you can’t leave the gangster life behind as easily as Carlito would like. His cousin Guajiro (John Ortiz)
convinces him to accompany the young man to a drug dealwhich goes terribly wrong. But that’s where Carlito’s problems are just beginning, as he becomes increasingly drawn into the world of crime.

Anyone who has seen Scarface knows how fruitful the mix between these two men can be – and what a powerful gangster epic it creates when everything fits together. Ten years later the dream team tried again and delivered the next one with Carlito’s Way Classics of the genre away.
However, it works completely differently than Scarface and this is reflected above all in the main character Carlito Brigante, brilliantly embodied by Al Pacino. In contrast to Tony Montana, we are not dealing with a megalomaniac on drugs, but with one broken figurewho actually just wants to stay honest and pull herself out of the swamp of crime.
