Gang criminal acquitted for hit-and-run in which eleven-year-old died

The fatal accident occurred at 7 p.m. on June 7, 2023. An eleven-year-old boy who was about to cross a pedestrian crossing in Valsta in Märsta, was hit by a car and died in hospital from his injuries.

A 28-year-old known gang criminal man was charged over the incident. Now it is clear that the man is acquitted by the Attunda district court on both charges. The man was charged with negligence in traffic and causing the death of another.

According to the district court, the prosecutor has not been able to prove that the man, who was driving in reverse light, was negligent when the collision occurred.

– From the investigation in the case, the district court has not been able to determine what it looked like from the direction the boy came cycling. It has also not been possible to say with certainty that the man did not adapt the speed to the conditions on the spot, says Karl Axel Öberg, councilman, in a press release.

The investigation has not been able to determine what speed the man was traveling at the time of the accident. The district court assesses that the damage picture indicates that the cyclist cycled into the car from the left side.

Belongs to the Märsta network

The freed 28-year-old is already known to the police. He has long been singled out as a tone-setting figure in the Märsta network and there have been several investigations into serious crimes.

In 2017, the man was acquitted of involvement in a high-profile murder in Bromma and in 2019 for a shooting at a pub in Märsta.

In 2020, the man was sentenced for carelessness in traffic after reversing at high speed with a passenger car towards road users who were standing in a parking lot.
