Gaming streamers agonize over a giant Norwegian

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

For years, his competitors have accused the streamer Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo” (27) of doing everything to become the most successful streamer on Twitch. In fact, Mizkif’s hour now seems to have come: All he has to do is torture himself live at “Camp Knut”. people love it.

who is the little man

  • Streaming since 2016, Matthe Rinaudo is one of the most ambitious streamers on Twitch: he earned his career hard, he was the cinematographer of the legendary Ice Poseidon and he’s been working to somehow make it to the top of Twitch ever since. He is about 1.70m tall.
  • His competitors like to accuse him of “doing whatever it takes” to get to the top: he would specifically milk and promote “drama” on Twitch. Associating with dubious people to generate views. Or just boldly copy popular trends. Mizkif himself is the first to admit that he did all of this – for him there is nothing in it.
  • Mizkif has indeed gradually worked his way into the circle of top streamers on Twitch: in the last year, an average of 33,000 viewers watched him, an increase of 70%. In the last few days he has even increased the number to 50,000 and has occasionally been the biggest streamer on Twitch.
  • If you still want to be successful on Twitch today, you are late and finding it difficult to establish yourself:

Twitch: Who were the first successful streamers?

A Norwegian colossus is the new star on Twitch – Mizkif is there

What is Mizkif having so much success with right now? Bodybuilding streamer Knut Spilderjeorde has been on Twitch since 2013. The Norwegian is 1.96m tall and a colossus.

He’s somehow part of the platform and many people know him, but the mighty man wasn’t particularly successful. Last year Knut had an average of 860 spectators.

At TwitchCon in Amsterdam, the 36-year-old announced that he would be traveling to Austin, Texas, to host a month-long fitness camp attended by streamers and content creators: Among the people participating in “Camp Knut” is one also Mizkif, who dwells in Texas.

    Knut explains:

“The concept is: We train and eat like professional bodybuilders to show the Twitch community that anyone can do it.”

Since then, you can watch every day how a mix of real fitness nerds and gaming nerds struggle in the gym and try different machines.

It has a kind of reality TV charm:

  • Mizkif is the ambitious model student who throws himself into it – even though he doesn’t seem cut out for it
  • the vigorous WoW streamer Esfand is a bit of the “bad boy” who is said to be not struggling enough and “not fully engaged”
  • Knut is sort of a “dad” at the camp who, with his body-building friends, looks a little dumbfounded at “those young people” who refuse to shave their armpit hair
  • Back then, the worst streamer raged on Twitch, today his heirs rule

Mix of reality show and fitness exercise is great on Twitch

How’s that going down now? “Camp Knut” is a complete success for those involved:

  • Above all, Knut himself benefits enormously from it – his viewer numbers have increased enormously. It’s now up to 26,000 viewers in the last 7 days. For years, Knut had “only” 800 viewers – so he increased his average number of viewers by a factor of 30
  • For streamers like Mizkif, who were already big before, the “Camp Knut” is now another boost: Mizkif now reaches over 50,000 people on his streams
  • But for “at the top” that will not be enough. Because Mizikif can only hold out this “new hard content” for about 2 hours, then the streams end.

Back when he could still sit comfortably on his butt and play Mario, he managed marathon streams.

What’s the appeal here? Surely that’s what Knut says himself: The fact that “normal people” train under tough conditions and the progress they make is certainly a motivation for many a spectator who would actually train a lot more, but then he got this arrow in the knee and somehow it just doesn’t fit:

  • Viewers say it’s really motivating to watch the streamers work. This also makes it easier for them to train and achieve their goals.
  • For a change, this is some really “positive and encouraging content” at a time when there’s otherwise a lot of negative things coming out of Twitch and the media.

Mizkif posts “before and after” photos from a week at Camp Knut.

It’s also a change for the streamers themselves. Instead of sitting alone by the computer, they spend a lot of time with others. Some liken it to being back at school.

Mikif even says (via twitter): Camp Knut saved him. In the last year he has been stressed every day and has become more and more removed from himself. He is now incredibly proud of his friends and the community.
